Partial Rewires
When a partial rewire may be appropriate
Not every electrical problem means the whole property needs rewiring. If the rest of the installation remains suitable, work may be limited to a kitchen, extension, outbuilding, floor or group of circuits. Inspection and testing are important because new wiring must connect safely with the installation that remains in service.

Unsuitable or damaged circuits
Replace specific circuits where testing identifies a problem or the existing wiring cannot support the proposed use.
Extensions and converted spaces
Install new circuits and wiring for an extension, loft conversion, garage conversion or altered part of the property.
Room renovations
Replace and rearrange wiring for a kitchen, bathroom or other renovated area while leaving suitable circuits elsewhere unchanged.
Common reasons for partial rewiring
The exact boundary of the work needs to be clear before installation begins.

Connecting new and existing wiring
The existing installation, consumer unit and protective equipment need to be checked before a partial rewire is designed. If related upgrades are required, they will be explained so there is a clear line between the new work and the installation being retained.
