Commercial Fire Detection
Fire detection matched to the building and its use
A commercial fire alarm system should follow the premises' fire risk assessment, occupancy, layout and evacuation arrangements. The appropriate coverage and system category cannot be chosen from the building size alone. Detection, manual call points, sounders, interfaces and controls need to work together, and the completed system needs an ongoing testing and maintenance routine.

Faults and replacements
Investigate reported system faults, replace failed compatible devices and retest the affected areas.
Testing and maintenance
Carry out scheduled system checks and maintenance, recording faults or equipment that needs further attention.
New systems and extensions
Install agreed detection, call points, sounders, control equipment and cabling for new or altered premises.
Commercial fire alarm services
The scope may involve a new installation, an alteration following building changes or maintenance of an existing system.

The responsible person's fire risk assessment comes first
The electrical contractor can install and test the agreed system, but the responsible person must ensure the premises has a suitable fire risk assessment and overall fire safety arrangements. A competent fire risk assessor or system designer may be needed to establish the required category and coverage for more complex premises.
