Full Rewires
What is involved in a full rewire?
A full rewire normally involves replacing cables, circuits, sockets, switches and other parts of an older or unsuitable installation. It is also an opportunity to improve socket positions, lighting controls and provision for appliances, data, security or future equipment. The property needs to be assessed before the extent of the work, access requirements and likely disruption can be confirmed.

Future requirements
Consider EV charging, heating controls, security, data cabling and likely future changes so useful provision can be included now.
Lighting and controls
Agree fitting positions, switching, dimming and any feature or outdoor lighting while cable routes are still accessible.
Sockets and circuits
Plan enough power points and correctly arranged circuits for kitchens, living spaces, bedrooms, utility areas and fixed equipment.
Planning the new electrical layout
Decisions made before work starts have a major effect on the usefulness of the finished installation.

Access, disruption and making good
Rewiring is disruptive because cables must be routed through floors, walls and ceilings. The amount of access and chasing depends on the property and whether it is occupied, empty or already being renovated. The quotation should set out the electrical work and clarify responsibility for lifting, access and final making good.
